Thanks to the internet and of course social media incredible senior portraits that are creative and high quality at the same time have become the new standard among graduates.

What Are High school Senior Portraits?

High School Senior Portraits are an amazing opportunity to show the world who you really are!

Besides creating a lasting memory in the form of professional photos, a highschool senior photoshoot is an experience like no other.

Professional sessions usually include a style consultation, professional hair, and makeup plus access to an exquisite wardrobe of glamourous outfits. You don´t need to worry about getting the outfit right or applying too much or the wrong makeup. Instead, let the experts help you with that!

Why Are Senior Portraits So Important?

High school senior year and graduation are milestones in everyone’s life. They are the breaking point between childhood and adulthood. Many seniors will soon leave for college, move away from their families and friends for the first time.

There is no better way to commemorate this point in life and to celebrate this life stage than by having your senior portraits taken by a professional photographer.

How To Choose The Right Photographer?

Finding the right photographer for your high school senior portraits can be a bit overwhelming. Here are some important tips to take into account:

1. Check their Style

Look at their online portfolios and galleries to see if the overall style of the photos is in line with what you have in mind for your portrait session.

2. Read their Testimonials

Check Google, Yelp, or Facebook for reviews and testimonials. They can tell you a lot about the way a photographer works and their customer service.

3. Read their Bio

It is important that you know who you are hiring. What are their background and experience?

4. Compare Packages & Pricing

Get an idea of what is included in their packages and what is not.

5. Schedule a Call or Meeting

A call or meeting can clear up any doubts or questions you might have. It also gives you the opportunity to get to know the photographer and their personality.

6. Think about Availability

Don´t wait until the last minute to book your portrait session. In peak season popular photographers will be booked out. Try to plan in advance.

How to pick the right location?

The right photoshoot location is as crucial as the right photographer. It should photograph well and reflect your style aesthetics.

A good photographer will make suggestions. Since they are the experts and know the area and photo-worthy locations it´s best to trust their knowledge and experience. But it doesn´t hurt to get some inspiration on Pinterest or Instagram and share your ideas with the photographer.

Dallas Ultimate Women's Expo by Reina LeGrand

This last weekend I had the pleasure of being an Exhibitor at the Dallas Ultimate Women's Expo! I co-hosted with my BPF (Best Photographer Friend), Laura Levitan, @ Mod L Photography, who is an AMAZING Dallas Maternity Photographer & Dallas Newborn Photographer, located in the Dallas & Richardson Area. We had an absolute BLAST together, and meeting so many women in the DFW area.

My clients typically come to me for Beauty/Glamour sessions, High School Senior sessions, and Family and Children sessions, and those are what I consider my specialties. (And of course, any time one of those clients wants to do something amazing and "over the top", that is my TRUE favorite session type.) And my clients usually come from the Fort Worth, Keller, Colleyville, Argyle & North Richland Hills areas. Basically, the NW side of Dallas/Fort Worth.

That's one of the reasons that I loved partnering with Laura. Her clients are usually on the Dallas, Frisco, Plano and Richardson areas, and she specializes in Newborn photography, (which I no longer "do"), so we make a great partnership in covering all of the special moments that happen in a woman's life. Between the two of us, we also cover both the west and east sides of Dallas/Fort Worth.

Anyway, we had a great time at the Expo! It was our first time being Exhibitors, and so we came massively over prepared with all of our decor and samples. We really wanted to invoke the feeling of our own respective studios and so we brought furniture and artwork from our own places and combined it to create a cohesive and beautiful space! We had a ton of compliments and I really think we were able to achieve our vision.

Our product samples were also SUPER popular! In today's digital age, many people have forgotten the beauty of holding a beautiful album in their hands, and looking through it. My albums are handmade in Italy and are GORGEOUS. I got actual gasps from many of the Expo attendees when I showed them my sample album. And I spoke with one lady who stopped dead in her tracks as she was walking by our booth, and said "That is ART! That is not a picture, that is MUCH MORE than a picture, that is ART!", pointing at one of our displayable albums. It was such a compliment and attested to why we do the things we do! We create ART for your family for today, and for your future generations!

Overall we had a really wonderful time meeting with so many of the beautiful women of Dallas! We are super excited to be working with some of you on upcoming portrait sessions, and look forward to meeting with more of you in the future to plan out your portrait sessions!!

Dallas Fort Worth Best Photography Locations by Reina LeGrand

In the photography world, as well as the realty world, it’s often all about, LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! Second only to wardrobe (and okay, hair and makeup for the ladies), the location you choose for your photography session is key.

Because of its importance in setting the tone of your portraits, the location of your photography session is something I go over in-depth with my clients during our initial phone consultation, and during our in-person consultation.

At Reina LeGrand Photography, I offer the option and convenience of studio sessions. An in-studio is best suited for glamour and beauty sessions, senior, child and small family formal portrait sessions. One of the advantages to studio sessions, is of course, the comforts of the indoors.

On-location works great for all session types.

In the DFW, Dallas-Fort Worth area, there are many, many amazing outdoor locations to choose from. Sometimes I just stumble on a location while driving around and just have to drag my kids or clients over for a photography session. Whether it's rural or urban you're looking for, you'll have plenty to choose from.
